What shows are on this season?

Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Anita Smith

Welcome to the island of Messina, a pirate stronghold where love is a duel and gossip spreads faster than cannon fire. Captain Don Pedro and his crew of rowdy swashbucklers make port to enjoy the spoils of their latest treasure trove. While there, the tides turn for the young Claudio, who falls in love with Hero, the dashing daughter of Messina’s leader. Meanwhile, sparring adversaries Benedick and Beatrice clash in a tense battle of wits sharp enough to rival any cutlass. But beware: Don Pedro’s own brother, the villainous Don Jon, is ready to scuttle it all with lies, treachery, and betrayal that will have our lovers ready to walk the plank. Grab your crew and get ready to set sail in this high-seas romantic comedy that proves no one—not even a pirate—can outsmart their own heart.

Julius Caesar, directed by Joshua Beaudry

In a modern-day Republic, rising politician Brutus is torn between loyalty to his mentor, the formidable Julius Caesar, and a growing fear that Caesar’s grip on power is eclipsing that of the Senate. As whispers of tyranny spread and deceptions blur the line between truth and ambition, a ring of conspirators draws Brutus into a dangerous plot to stop Caesar at any cost. In this world of ruthless strategy and fragile alliances, every move might be your last. This political thriller proves that once you raise the dagger, there’s no turning back.

What are the seats like?
Our amphitheatre is equipped with high-quality, commercial-grade padded folding theatre chairs manufactured by Spec Seats, a company that has specialized in professional venue seating for nearly 100 years. Their chairs are used in amphitheatres, performing arts venues, arenas, and stadiums throughout North America.

The chairs are:

  • Comfortable, padded theatre seats with back support
  • Sturdy, commercial-grade construction designed for public venues
  • Set up on level flooring within our covered outdoor amphitheatre
  • Suitable for a full-length performance

If you have specific accessibility or seating concerns, please contact our Box Office before your visit.

Relaxed Performances

At Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, we are committed to making theatre accessible and welcoming for everyone.

Our relaxed performances are specially designed for audience members who may benefit from a more inclusive, flexible theatre environment. These performances support individuals with:

  • Sensory sensitivities
  • Autism or neurodivergence
  • Anxiety or PTSD
  • Learning or developmental disabilities
  • Dementia or memory-related conditions
  • Young children and their caregivers
  • Mobility issues or chronic pain (e.g. those who need to stretch or move frequently)
What is a Relaxed Performance?

A relaxed performance is a modified theatre experience that removes the expectations to sit still, stay silent, or behave a certain way. We adjust the environment and expectations to create a more comfortable space for everyone.

What can I expect during a Relaxed Performance?

House Lights remain dimmed, not fully dark.
This allows for safe, low-stress movement during the show.

Where appropriate and without altering the artistic integrity of the production, certain technical elements may be moderated. Please contact us if you have specific questions about the sensory experience.

Freedom to move or make noise.
Audience members are welcome to move around, make sounds, or leave and return to the theatre as needed.

Supports for mobility-related needs.
Relaxed performances are ideal for:

  • Those who need to stand, stretch, or shift positions during the show
  • Patrons using walkers, wheelchairs, or canes
  • Individuals who may not be able to sit comfortably for long periods

Pre-show welcome and story overview.
Before the performance, we will offer a brief introduction to:

  • Outline the story and setting
  • Highlight any emotionally intense moments
  • Reassure the audience that all actors on-stage are safe and performing
Are seats assigned?

Yes. All performances, including relaxed ones, have reserved seating. We offer wheelchair-accessible seating and are happy to assist with mobility needs—please contact us in advance to arrange suitable seating.

Which shows are relaxed this season?

We are hosting two relaxed performances during our 2026 season.

Julius Caesar: July 26

Much Ado About Nothing: August 2

Yes, subject to availability. If you need to switch performance dates, you can often do this through your Showpass account or by contacting us directly. We’re happy to help!

Can I get a refund if I can’t attend?

All ticket sales are final. If you’re unable to attend, we’re happy to help you exchange for another date. Alternatively, you can donate your ticket back and request a charitable tax receipt.

Weather & Performances

What happens if it rains?

We perform unless weather conditions are unsafe. If a performance is cancelled in advance due to extreme weather, we will contact all ticketholders with options to rebook.

What should I bring?

  • Dress in layers for warm days
  • Bring a blanket or jacket for cooler evenings.
  • Sunscreen and bug spray can come in handy for early evening shows.

Is the amphitheatre covered? What happens if it rains?
Yes, the amphitheatre is covered. However, on days with uncertain weather, we recommend bringing a rain poncho to stay dry while traveling to and from the parking area.

Parking

Parking is available in front of our site. The turn off is located on Spadina Cres, in front of the Nutrien Wonderhub.

However, this lot fills up quickly. Thanks to the SHA, additional parking is located in the City Hospital staff parking lot off Queen St. Please note that this parking is not available before 6pm on weekdays.

Festival Site

Our festival site is open to the public an hour before each performance begins.

Please note that our site is still closed to the public during box office hours.
