Head of Props

  • Qualifications: Experience in property management is an asset. Must be organized. Must be able to both give and take instruction. Must be able to be self-motivated, reliable, and punctual. Will report directly to the Artistic Director, and therefore must be open to suggestions and feedback. Positive, creative attitude.
  • Responsibilities: Reporting to our Artistic Director and in collaboration with our Production and Site Manager, the Head of Props will be responsible for the creation/acquisition, maintenance, and management of the props for the 2023 Festival Season.
  • Working Hours: 30-35 hours a week
  • Base Salary: $20.60 per hour, plus vacation pay.

SOTS is currently looking to fill the Head of Props Position for the 2023 Festival Season. 

Responsibility: Reporting to our Artistic Director and in collaboration with our Production and Site Manager, the Head of Props will be responsible for the creation/acquisition, maintenance, and management of the props for the 2023 Festival Season.

Duties shall include but not be limited to:

  • Repurposing of current property inventory to fulfill the property needs for the productions this season; Romeo + Juliet / As You Like It
  • Providing an up-to-date detailed list of current property inventories for the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival.
  • The acquisition of property and set pieces through loan, purchase, or construction. Budget limits to be set by the Production & Site Manager.
  • Assistance with production set up, furniture, and painting as needed.
  • Providing a clean and clear list of all elements of property and set pieces which need to be returned to origin at the end of the season and copies of any agreements made with lenders.  The Head of Props will also return all loaned props to their point of origin upon closing of the shows.

Contract Completed By: July 15th

Wage: 30-35 hours a week at $20.60 per hour, plus vacation pay.
